Optometrystudents.com is a website that is striving to become the premier resource for aspiring and practicing optometry students. It is a site that has been created and managed by passionate students to educate all those that are interested in the field of optometry, while also acting as an area to collaborate, ask questions, and exchange materials.
Matthew Geller, the founder of the site, was looking to continue to develop the branding of the site by finding a logo that would speak to his audience, which consists of both students and professionals that will wish to participate in the community. He posted a design contest on GeniusRocket, and received many terrific entries, which he was able to narrow down to five main options.
A quick test through CrowdPicker helped to further cut it down to two options, one of which was able to combine various elements into one unified logo. After settling on the final concept, Matthew wanted to try testing a few variations of the final logo design to see if there was a favourite. Despite the close similarity between the variations, a distinct winner rose out of the three options in two successive polls.
The speed and the accuracy of the results allowed Matthew to be confident that his selection will make a terrific design for his growing brand and website. Crowdpicker helped indicate a favoured design out of his five first options; then found a clear winner out of three very similar final options.
